Dreamed up by two local chamber ensembles, the PBC aims to make Bach’s music accessible to everyone in the city. The new series celebrates J.S. Bach’s cantatas, which resonate deeply with audiences through their expressive reflection on the human condition.
PBC harnesses the talent and expertise of Philly’s top vocalists and period-instrument specialists. Members of Variant 6 and Night Music, among the nation’s top performers in the early music arena, perform together frequently in Philadelphia and beyond with major ensembles such as Choral Arts Philadelphia, Tempesta di Mare, Seraphic Fire, The Handel & Haydn Society, and many others. It seemed a natural evolution to combine forces and create an at-home Bach series here in our great city.
